Home Ownership Dreams can and SHOULD come true

Home Ownership Dreams

Most of us, in our childhood dreamed of owning our own home. When your mom or dad would holler at you to "turn off the TV and go to bed at a decent hour " or " don't hang those posters on MY wall" you might have thought, "I can't wait until I have my own home and can make my own rules."

However, the recent economic and political uncertainties may have caused some of us to delay or even abandon that home ownership dream altogether. At Advanced Systems Homes we think that's a mistake. Renting your living space comes at a cost. You are beholden to the landlord for what you can and cannot do to your house or apartment. There still is someone out there telling you "don't hang that poster on that wall" or "don't make noise after ten o'clock".

Renting space rather than buying means that each monthly payment you make adds to someone else's equity and does nothing for you. And yes, even though they most likely are responsible for the upkeep and major repairs, the amount of monthly cash you are forking out is most likely enough to pay for that upkeep and then some. If it's lawn care you are avoiding, take some of the monthly payout you save with ownership and hire a neighbor kid or lawn service to help (that's exactly what the landlord is most likely doing).

As a recent paper from the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard University explains:
"Households must consume housing whether they own or rent. Not even accounting for more favorable tax treatment of owning, homeowners pay debt service to pay down their own principal while households that rent pay down the principal of a landlord plus a rate of return. That's yet another reason owning often does—as Americans intuit—end up making more financial sense than renting."

Buying your own home does not mean that you will have to fix and repair everything in the home yourself. The age of the internet and technology has made it relatively easy to find the expert repair and home maintenance help you need. As we get more connected, it is a lot easier to find the "good" ones and avoid the hucksters.

Purchasing an Advanced Systems Homes modular built home is even better. An ASH home is of such high quality that less than 1% of ASH's service is spent on warranty work. Buying new significantly decreases the chances of a major utility, structural, HVAC, appliance, etc. breakdown. Our workers have been doing this for almost 45 years.

Talk to our financial team to determine just what your current rental costs are and compare them to what a mortgage on an ASH home would be. This is one dream we think should come true and we will passionately work to get you quickly into owning your own home. Your dream, our passion.
